Jefferson Memorial (Quick way to enter)

February 20, 2009

(Video tutorial at end of post)

This is another way how to enter the jefferson memorial in fallout 3 when the barriers are up is to make a good jump up on a large rock. You will see this gap if you arrive here from west of RIVET CITY.

img_0161when you get to the barrier go to the end of the barrier on the right and u should see a big boulder with a gap at the top, this is were you’ll need to run up on top of it .

img_0121 This little bit of pavement is just in front of the boulder, it can be used to jump up onto it, take in mind that it might take more than 1 time to succeed , and also note that if you get trapped behind the metal antenna connected to the barrier you will be unable to move to you might want to save just before you attempt this. I have done this on PS3 but has been confirmed on Xbox 360 and PC, if you dont get over the first time just keep trying and eventually you will, its all about the way you jump on onto it. Once your on it try moving up to the top of it, if you cant then trying jumping up again. If you have any problems be sure to comment. Thanks for viewing!

Operation: Anchorage Glitches

February 16, 2009

450px-banner_opanchorage1
  •  It is possible to keep your inventory from the simulation. This means that you can keep yourWinterized Combat Armor, Gauss Rifle,Jingwei’s Shock Sword and whatever weapons you got from the Quartermaster (ie:Trench Knife, Assault Rifle, Combat Shotgun, etc.) and then receive your reward from the VSS Armory in the Outcast Outpost. This is possible by exploiting an inventory glitch where the player’s inventory from the simulation is not removed until after the player returns to the Outpost. To perform this glitch, do the following steps in order and remember to save before performing the glitch because it will take several attempts to achieve this. Also note that that the player should not have started the simulation already, otherwise it is impossible to do and I would suggest loading a previous save if you really want Winterized Combat Armor and a second Gauss Rifle.
  1. – To set this glitch up, the player needs to talk to Protector McGraw and then to Specialist Olin to get the Neural Interface Suit. After you equip the suit, do not enter the simulation pod yet.
  2. – Go into the locked room where Gary 23 is and then drag his body back into the pod room. Lift his body into the pod in a way that his body will be in front of you when you sit down. Make sure that it is close enough to search him. Once you sit down, you will not be able to search him so you are going to have to guess if he is close enough. There are certain areas such as under the footstool where it will be hard to reach him so be careful. Now that you have him positioned and you think he will be close enough to search, save the game. Get in the pod and start the simulation, if he happens to move too much and gets out of searching distance, revert to this last save. You will be able to see if this happens right before the simulation starts.
  3. – Enter the simulation and play through to Paving the Way. From this point on everything in your inventory will be taken out of the simulation, so remember to get your weapons package and Gauss Rifle from the Quartermaster and to pick up all the ammo found along the way. Continue playing up to Operation: Anchorage (quest).
  4. – Play through the quest, disabling the pulse field and make your way to the doors of the Chinese Compound. At this point make sure you have a save before going in. Once you enter, pick the speech option ‘I’m going to kill you SO MUCH’. Shoot the Shock Sword out of General Jingwei’s hand. Pick up the Shock Sword and then kill him. Make sure you are not in the southern end of the compound because General Chase may catch you in a speech and send you back to the Outpost without making another save. As soon as you kill General Jingwei, run North toward theChinese Soldiers and turn around to find where General Chase is and then make another save (you can overwrite your last save if you want).
  5. – Now talk to General Chase and he will send you back to the Outpost (remember how you positioned the Gary 23’s body in step 1) During the loading screen start to press A (search button) rapidly. If done properly, you will be able to search his body (normally happens in the black screen, but not always) and at this point put all your items on his body. Exit, talk to Protector McGraw, and then search Gary 23’s body to retrieve your weapons from the simulation. Combined with the following two bugs, a player can leave the simulation with tens of thousands of bottlecaps worth of ammo.
  • – This part is hard and will take several attempts to achieve it. Try several different methods such as rapidly pressing A or tapping A at a slower rate (changing the rate at which you press it helps), using third person, looking down (or down to left or right), or even trying a mixture of them.
  • – Also Most Weapons & Armor taken from within the Simulation will result in them never losing CND. The Fat Man, Super Sledge, and Chinese Officer Sword lose Condition.
  • Another glitch allows you to get all of the weapons that you requisition from the Quartermaster. This is simple, all you do is get one of the tapes for a set weapons (ie: Close Combat, Fire Team, etc.) then get the weapons from theQuartermaster. After you do that, go back to the command tent and get another tape. Go outside again, drop your guns and talk to the Quartermaster again. He will give you the new set of weapons that you ask for. A message will then appear saying your other set of weapons were removed, but they will still be where you dropped them earlier. Keep repeating until you get the desired packages/weapons. If you use this with the other glitch (keeping the weapons from simulation), you can make a fast couple of caps once you sell the items or it’s just a quick way of building an arsenal if you are a low level.
    • Note: Attempting to talk to a stealthed Chinese Stealth Dragoon will cause it to reset your equipment to what you’re supposed to have. Same thing will happen upon conversation with a soldier equipped with Power Armour, and possibly just any NPC.
  • It is also possible to drop your ammo replenish and then pick your original ammunition up again, bypassing the simulation’s built in ammo cap. This allows for infinite ammo as long as the player is willing to repeat the process.
  • – You can gain unlimited EXP during the quest Paving the Way, specifically when securing the Listening Post and destroying the fuel tanks in the Chimera Depot. It is recommended that you save your game between each EXP boost to ensure that you don’t lose any of your hard work.
  1. – First, you will need to recruit a Strike Team that has only one robot in it, either a Mister Gutsy or the Sentry Bot.Benjamin Montgomery will be in your team by default, but do not assign any other NPCs to your squad while attempting this glitch because they will make it more difficult.
  2. – Now, you will need to requistion a weapons package from the Quartermaster. Any weapons package will do, but the Fire Team package is recommended. Your ammo will need to be refilled quite frequently from the nearest ammo supply station depending on how long you want to do this (this can be done indefinitely), however, if you just want it gain quick exp and not spend much time on it, then obtain some hard hitting weapons such as grenades, mines, a missile launcher or a Gauss Rifle. To save time on getting ammo, use the ammo glitch (see above).
  3. – Then tell your team go to the Listening Post or the Chimera Depot or have them follow you to a secluded area. If you head to the Listening Post or the Chimera Depot, clearing the enemies from the area first is recommended.
  4. – Now to actually do the glitch, put the robot between yourself and Benjamin Montgomery and then start attacking the robot. You should try to remain between the robot and Benjamin Montgomery for the duration of the glitch because there is a chance that Benjamin Montgomery will start attacking you when he sees what you are doing, then again there is a chance that he will attack the robot as well (same goes for any other NPCs you might have put in your group). Also if you use VATs and have the Mysterious Stranger Perk, there is a chance that he will appear and you will not get credit for the kill.
  5. – Once the robot is destroyed you can request another from Benjamin Montgomery. Within seconds, another will appear nearby. Repeat step 4 as many times as you want to gain EXP.

Operation: Anchorage

February 16, 2009

450px-banner_opanchorage

In this Add on pack, the Brotherhood of Steel Outcasts are trying to acquire advanced military tools, and the only way to enter the vault containing these is by completing a military virtual reality simulation only the player can enter. In the simulation the player fights in one of the greatest battles of the Fallout universe: the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from invading Red Chinese troops. The simulation is set between June 2076, when the T-51b Power Armorwas first introduced, and January 2077, when Chinese forces were completely driven out of Alaska.

Once the add on pack is downloaded, the quest objective for Operation: Anchorage will be activated by a radio broadcast stating, “This is Defender Morill, any Outcasts listening on this frequency report to sector 7-B, Bailey’s Crossroads. This is a high-priority message, backup is needed at our location. Any personnel listening on this frequency please report at once.” A marker will appear on the world map but the player cannot immediately fast-travel to the location to begin the simulation. The add on pack can be played at any time after the player exits Vault 101 at the beginning of the game. After completing the simulation, new equipment will be unlocked for the player to use in the rest of the game.

In the simulation, the player is stripped of any equipment and weapons and forced to utilize the resources supplied throughout the simulation’s environment. The Chinese Red Army is everywhere, and the player first has to secure the surrounding mountain side and then fight their way into the Chinese base. The player has to use a lot of their standard combat skills, along with several new tools that are only available in the DLC. These include interactive strike teams under the player’s command as well as unique armor, weapons, and other exotic gadgets. Throughout the simulation various pieces of intel are also hidden, yielding the Covert Ops perk.

  • Winterized Combat Armor (can be equiped outside simulation with glitch, see below)
  • General Chase’s Uniform (worn by General Constantine Chase)
  • General Jingwei’s Uniform (worn by General Jingwei)
  • Army Mechanic Jumpsuit (can be equipped outside simulation via glitch.)
  • Winterized Chinese Jumpsuit
  • Winterized Chinese Hat

New perk

  • Crimson Dragoons
  • Chinese Inferno Units
  • Chinese Launchers
  • Chinese Snipers
  • Chinese Technicians
  • General Jingwei

Pickpocketing Enemies

It is possible to pickpocket the enemies in the simulation, nothing but ammo was found in their pockets, it should be noted that if you do manage to pickpocket them you will lose Karma, it is unknown if this is a bug or not. It should be noted that a few Powered Armored soldiers carrying a Fat Man at the end of the simulation yielded Miniguns when pickpocketed. And when you see the Powered Armored Soldiers with Miniguns out, you can pickpocket them for a Fat Man.

Intel

In the anchorage simulation, you will come across “Intel”, and the game states that there are 10 of them throughout the Simulation. There is no achievement for finding all 10 of these but you receive theCovert Ops perk collecting all 10.

New areas

  • Bailey’s Crossroads Metro
    • There is a Nuka-Cola machine near the zone-in, and the Metro is full of Feral Ghouls.
  • Bailey’s Crossroads
    • Your followers may rejoin you after you leave the Metro.
      • Dogmeat will wait for you at Vault 101
  • Outcast Outpost
    • Contains the Anchorage Reclamation simulation
    • If you have a follower, they will not be able to accompany you into the zone.

Winterized T-51b Armor

February 15, 2009

The special winterized version of T-51b Power Armor appears in the Operation: Anchorage Add on pack for Fallout 3.

185px-winterized_t-51b

Characteristics:

It is one of two armors used by U.S. Soldiers (the other armor of choice being Winterized Combat Armor) in the Anchorage Reclamation simulationand can be obtained from a weapon cache in the Outcast Outpost after completing the simulation.

It is identical to the T-51b power armor in Fort Constantine, other than having a lack of rust, having snow-camouflaged paint, and the main body of the suit has only 45% damage resistance compared to the rusted version’s 50%.

Notes:

  • The item can be worn before the player receives Power Armor Trainingfrom Paladin Gunny. After the simulation is completed, you receive the Power Armor Training perk.
  • This armor has an item health of nearly 10 million HP, the helmet has nearly 1 million HP. It is possible that the developers accidentally placed the wrong version inside the cache – there are 2 versions of each armor and weapon in the add on, one for the simulation (with unusual high item health so it appears like it doesn’t degrade) and a “Wasteland” version. The “Wasteland” version of this armor has normal item health, can be repaired using T-4x Power Armors (the simulation version cannot) and has the same stats.
  • It can be hard to see but the armor has a US Army logo and flag decal below the valve on the back. It also has 2 stars on the front of the shoulder plates, and it has a serial code on the left breast plate.
  • The T-51b power armor appears to have a light on the helmet (as does the Power Armor) but this cannot be used.
  • The Winterized T-51b is not available to the player during the simulation.

Bugs:

  • If you pick this armor up while doing the quest You Gotta Shoot ‘Em in the Head the game confuses this for the T-51b Power Armor from Fort Constantine and completes the mission.
  • You can sometimes wear the Ghoul Mask, Shady Hat and various other head gear while wearing the Winterized T-51B helmet. When viewing your character externally, however, you’ll only be wearing the helmet, whereas your inventory will show that you are wearing all of them.

Prototype Medic Armor

February 15, 2009

The Prototype Medic Power Armor was designed to administer medical attention to the user as necessary during combat.

215px-fallout_3_army_power_armour

Unfortunately, the prototype version can only administer Med-X, the game’s version of morphine. Its outward appearance is nearly identical to T-4x Power Armor series.

The armor was planned as an automatic medical supply dispenser, meaning troops would not have to be evacuated for medical treatment. The user manual found with the armor details that the final version was to also include a lethal chemical that could be triggered by a superior officer if the soldier deserted.

This armor still requires Power Armor training perk to use.

Notes:

  • The armor dispenses Med-X every 2.5hrs after checking your hitpoint total. Since it is on a timer it does NOT dispense Med-X during the heat of battle (when you’d need it most).
  • If the player leaves after going into the sewer it will disappear.
  • Despite looking like BoS power armor it has a star on the shoulder-pads, painted in the colors of the USA
  • The T-51b Power Armor can not be repaired by this armor. This armor, however, can be repaired by the T-51b, so be careful not to make that mistake.
  • In addition to the Med-X dispensing system, the armor features an onboard voice that resembles Mister Gutsy in terms of sound and personality. This feature (and the suit itself) may be a nod to the HEV suit from the Half-Life franchise, which also administered medical care (including morphine), and had an on-board computerized voice (albeit without a personality).
  • The PMPA will use Med-X in your inventory, so don’t wear it if you want to keep that Med-X for a special occasion.
  • It will not dispense Med-X when you have none in your inventory, as it checks to see if Med-X is available before attempting to dispense.
  • It’s also worth noting that no matter how many Med-X chems the suit dispenses to you, you will not become addicted to Med-X.
  • This armor can be repaired with all other Power Armor variations, but not Enclave and Tesla variants.
  • There is a random encounter where a BoS Knight and an Enclave Soldier talk about this armor, and why the BoS never recovered it from Old Olney.
  • This armor can be very helpful in battle as it will always shout out a phrase, alerting you of any danger, even if your perception is low.
  • Even though the armor will alert you of any danger, nearby foes will be able to hear the shouting and will become alert to your presence. This makes it very poor when trying to take a stealthy approach.

Acquisition:

A while into Old Olney will be a manhole that you can use to reach the armor. Enter the manhole and go a few feet forward and to the left. There will be a metal door, go through it to a room with a generator, and to the left of you will be another door. Go through, then to the left will be a room with a workbench and a few radioactive barrels. A bit further on is a door to the right which opens up to a dead BoS initiate with the armor.

How you deal with the Deathclaws in the sewers will depend on you character’s skills and abilities. However if your character is too weak to take on a Deathclaw, sneaking past them (using a Stealth Boy) is the best course of action. For more information on how to deal with Deathclaws, try the Deathclaw Article or Discussion pages.

Please note: In all platforms, the Medic Armor is known to have many glitches, some of the rumours are:

  • You must have access to The Citadel after “The Waters of Life” quest, and also have Power Armor training
  • Once you have entered the sewers and exited it again, the body carrying the armor will dissapear.
  • If you have the 1.1 patch, it is possible the body may never appear.

Dialogue

  • “Listen up, you God-damn puke. You are now wearing Prototype Medic Power Armor. You take care of me, and I’ll take care of you.”
  • “Medic Armor, reporting for duty, SIR!”
  • “Medic Armor, reporting for duty, MA’AM!”
  • “Time to kick some ass!”
  • “Let ’em eat lead!”
  • “Gear up, soldier!”
  • “It’s just pain, soldier! Have some of this and tough it out.”
  • “Be a soldier, not a civvie! Have some juice and suck it up.”
  • “Pansy! Take a shot of vitamin M and keep fighting.”
  • “Threat detected nearby!”

Appearances:

It appears only in Fallout 3 on a dead Brotherhood of Steel Initiate in Old Olney Sewers. Has also been found in Deathclaw Sanctuary in the Xbox 360 version.

Note: In some rare cases the armor never appears in the sewers and may never be obtainable without the console.

T-51b Power Armor

February 4, 2009

The T-51b Power Armor is the Power Armor in the original games. It is a unique model in this game and can only be found in Fort Constantine.

193px-untitled-26

The T-51b is one of the only Power Armor variants, the other being the Tesla Armor, in Fallout 3 which does not carry an Agility penalty; instead it grants a Charisma bonus for reasons unexplained (possibly a nod to the iconic nature of the armor in association with the Fallout franchise, or because it is so convincing to say yes to a tall man in this beastly armor). It does not offer a Strength bonus like in previous Fallout games, this could be a mistake by the developers or a possible attempt to make no single dominant armor in the game.

Acquiring It:

The only full set of the T-51b Power Armor can be found at Fort Constantine in the bomb storage building (dont be confused with the separate building named “Bomb Storage”, this is the exit.) It’s stored in the Weapons R&D laboratory behind a stasis field, easily disabled from the nearby terminal. It would be noted, however, that you need the three keys that you get from the “You Gotta Shoot ‘Em in the Head” quest as these keys open the doors to the actual armor ( You dont have to do the quest to get the keys from your victims). A fourth key is retrieved from Tara near the door leading to the terminal/stasis field.

Another way of getting the Armor is when you successfully complete “You Gotta Shoot ‘Em in the Head”(with the keys handed over to Mister Crowley): then you can often find Crowley with the Power Armor sometime after you have completed the quest. You can then kill him for the armor but remember, this would send the whole of the Underworld after you; unless you kill him with stealth or remove Ceberus’s Combat Inhibitor (preferably when Crowley is in the vicinity) which would cause the robot to kill him (and others) without the Underworld attacking you. Alternatively, you can use the Mesmetron on him which will turn him hostile (or blow off his head; if this happens simply reload your last save) towards everyone in the Underworld. In the presence of Cerberus, he will die quickly without harming any other residents or loss of karma.

One strategy to get the power armor without alerting any of the people of Underworld is to wait until Mr Crowley is alone or has very few people around him, preferably when he is asleep. If you have a follower have them wait outside the room. Once that is done, use a stealth boy and reverse pickpocket a frag grenade or frag mine, killing Crowley and allowing you to take the armor. If done properly no one in Underworld will attack you, or even care.  Use of the Mr. Sandman Perk on Mr. Crowley yields the same successful results. Also you can wait for Mr. Crowley to leave the underworld with the keys, and kill him in the museum lobby.

Repair

The T-51b cannot be repaired using any other power armor variants. The T-51b can be broken down to repair T-4x Power Armor, destroying the T-51b. Only shop keepers or caravan traders can repair T-51b Power Armor (an expensive option) and the results are limited by the skill of the repairing NPC. NPC’s can still repair it to a high enough condition to put it at a higher damage resistance than all other armors.

On the plus side, T-51b armor is twice as durable as standard Power Armor, and thus it degrades half as quickly as it takes damage.

The only way to keep the T-51b from being damaged is to give it to followers, since their armor’s condition never degrades.

Notes

  • The terminal that disables the stasis field around the T-51b Power Armor reads “Medical Armor Prototype”. This might be a bug, or perhaps evidence of mismatched armor locations, as it seems to refer to the Prototype Medic Power Armor found in Old Olney Sewers. This would also explain why an armor in a stasis field would be rusted. Simply put, it wasnt always in that field. It was probably placed in there when the rookie had taken the Prototype Medic Power Armor.
  • This is actually the original power armor from Fallout 1 and Fallout 2.

Operation: Anchorage

Oddly enough, the Winterized T-51b cannot be used to repair the old one. This may be because the Winterized version has 45 damage protection instead of 50 like the one in Fort Constantine.

Bugs

  • In the PS3 version of the game, there is a bug that causes only the main body to be in the stasis field.
    • In some cases the helmet can be found in the right corner of the room.
  • Followers may get stuck in Fort Constantine when you try to leave.

Notes

  • The T-51b armor in other Fallout games is inferior to Enclave Power Armor series due to the pre-war technology used to make it. In Fallout 3 however, it has the greatest damage resistance out of any armor available in the game, apart from the Tesla Armor set with the glitched tesla power pack

Col. Autumn’s uniform, 10mm Pistol and Laser pistol

Method 1: this is the only way to get his uniform AND his 10mm pistol (you cant get his laser pistol here). you have to started the “waters of life” , in order you have to be up to the part when the enclave arrive and you are watching Dad in the Rotunda with Col Autumn and his guards. As soon as you enter the Rotunda you could run up and jump through into the room just before the door closes, if you do this (may take more than once to succeed) then you will not be able to get out, therefore resulting to death because of the radiation thats kills everyone. Just wait outside for the Col and Dad to die, make sure the cursor in on the body u wont to loot (they have to be near the door)  do this in 3rd person, hold down the button which changes perspective, rotate the camera the camera around until you see “search Colonel Autumn” and there you go.

This picture i took shows my player with his uniform ( i had Dads as well ) while Dad and the Col where still inside the chamber bit ( there in there underwear in the picture ), i got the uniform using the rotating method above.

img_0147 However you wont be getting his unique laser pistol but u will have his uniform and his 10mm pistol.

Method 2: If you have missed your chance in the above method you still have another. After you have finished the “American Dream” Quest (the one at Raven Rock) and BEFORE you activate the robot Liberty Prime (aka the very last mission) fast travel to Rivet City. Once here travel West to the Jefferson Memorial and you should see the blue energy shields. Since you should be coming from the West side go up to where the energy shield cuts off and where the generator is, make a save here. The reason for the save is that when you are jumping over these rocks it is possible to get permanently stuck, any who continue jumping and you should make it over the rocks. The hole in the rocks is under the “stairs”, not between the stairs and energy shield generator. Once that is over make your way inside the Gift Shop and into the Rotunda (there will be Enclave Soldiers in the gift shop). Col. Autumn will be standing in there like he is on the final mission but he will not talk with you. You now need to reverse pickpocket a suit of armor onto him that is in good condition (I used Enclave armor). After that leave the room and then re enter, Col. Autumn should be wearing the suit of armor you just put onto him allowing you to pickpocket his outfit.

Note: If you get the uniform using method 1 then go to the jefferson memorial like above ( method 2) he would have another uniform so you could repair your current uniform and you will now have both of the Col weapons.

Note: if you do get into the Rotunda before the “Emergency Bulkhead” door closes and you get into the room with Dad and the Col with his guards, the Col will not say anything to you and you will have no dialog options and the Col will kill the other scientist in the Rotunda. Dad and the others will have the same dialog options they had before, the enclave guards will just say “yeah” and “bye” but remember that when you get in you wont be getting out…

Entering jefferson memorial( when activated “Liberty prime” in “take it back”)

January 25, 2009

Thats right people, you can get in the jefferson memorial when you even activated liberty prime…img_0123 ………..The bridge entrance is shut of when liberty prime is activated, but this isnt the way you have to go.

img_0097This is what the used to be clear entrance from Rivet city to jefferson memorial looks like. if you go to this part then go on the edge of the barrier you see on the picture, move left until you see this area:img_0104It is at the edge near the wall next to it. As you can see there is an antenna sticking out from the barrier where my player is standing(prototype medic power armor if your thinking)its best to jump onto it in 3rd person mode, when on it like so youll have to turn and jump through the black stick on the barrier, pict under.img_0109When you successfully jump from the antenna through the black stick you should be in the memorial, be warned there is a large number of enclave troopers, when level 15 and above most of them are with plasma rifles and tesla armor. if fawkes folows you in when 15 or above it can be the case he is killed.

In order to get a companion in you just have to move around a bit and they should appear or enter the gift shop and theyll spawn behind you or infront. This is the way to kill  col. autumn to get his trenchcoat and his laser pistol.
